Baccarat Banquet

“Baccarat Banquet” is one of the variants of Baccarat.  It is also written as “Baccarat Banque” it is quite similar to Baccarat Chemin de Fer with the exception that one gambler will remain the dealer and banker for the entire shoe, which means the banker is the dealer, the rest of the rules are the same as Baccarat Chemin de Fer.

From the group of players one of them is selected as the banker.  The croupier will choose either the player who has made the biggest wager or will choose the first player to the right of the croupier to play the “dealer cum banker”.  Only the dealer will deal the cards other players are not allowed to touch the cards.

Mostly, the baccarat banquet games are played with lesser decks than the punto banco or chemin de fer.   All the players other than the “banker hand” and the “player hand” are denoted as “punters.”

Similar to other variants of Baccarat, this game is absolutely based on luck and you do not have anything to do with the kind of dealing or the outcome of the card.  The cards are dealt per the rules of the game and the hands are totaled.  All the player has to do is to place:

  • Player bet stating player will win (or)
  • Banker bet stating banker will win (or)
  • Tie bet stating the game will be a tie.

The flow of the game:

  • Punters place a bet on player, bank or tie.
  • Player and the banker receive 2 cards each.
  • If either the player or the banker has 8 or 9 total game ends and the pay outs are given accordingly to winning bets.
  • If neither hand is 8 or 9 cards, then general third card rule for baccarat is followed.
  • Hands are totaled; the highest hand wins and the pay outs are given accordingly to winning bets.
In “Baccarat Banquet” when the total of all cards add up to “ten” or “more than ten” then the eventual total is subtracted by ten and the resulting number is taken to be the value of the hand.

If the total is 10, then 10-10 = 0, “zero” will be the value of the hand.  If the total is 12, then 12 – 10 = 2 and so “two” will be the value of the hand.  The highest achievable value is “9” in this game.
