Baccarat Hands

Understanding qualifying baccarat hands is necessary to understand why you should bet on a banker or player or a tie.

The main aim of betting on baccarat hands is to guess the winning hand to be that of the player, the banker, or a tie between them. You are not playing player versus players.  There is no skill involved in this game it is purely based on luck, especially for player and banker; for other betting players, a bit of “odds and outs” applies to winning more money.

 The total of the card values that the player or the banker holds is the major consideration of other players who will be betting on them.

Unique strategies are important for the players who are betting on the wins.  Strategies plays no role for the banker or player.  The banker and the player do not have any scope to improve except to stay with what they are dealt with and draw per rules of the game.

The cards are dealt only to two players. Baccarat is played with six or eight deck of cards.

Banker - Third Card Drawing Rules:

• Banker stands if the total of first two cards is 7 or more than 7.
• Banker draws with hand total 6 with first two cards if the player has value 6 or 7 total with three cards.
• Banker stands with hand total of 6 with first two cards if the player has a value of 6 or 7 total with two cards.
• For hand values 0 to 5 with two cards, banker is allowed to draw the third card irrespective of player’s hand total with two or three cards.

Player - Third Card Drawing Rules:

• Stand with total 6 or 7 with initial 2 cards.
• Draw with total 0 to 5.

The Baccarat Hand Valuation:

• Aces =1
• 10, K, Q, J = 0
• Number cards = Face value

Hand Evaluation:

• The value of the individual cards in hand is totaled.
• In cases where the total of the hand is 10 or more, then ten is deducted from the total.  The simplest method being to take the digit from the ones’ place to arrive at the hand value.  Always remember the tens value is ignored and the last digit alone is taken for the value of the hand.

Rules For Baccarat Hands:

If a player gets 9 in the initial draw (two cards) then it is a natural win.  The second best hand in Baccarat is 8. Else the player and the banker receive the third card based upon the value of cards they hold in accordance to Baccarat rules.  Hands are evaluated and the winner is declared.
