Over the years Blackjack has been called many different names, but the essence of the game has always remained the same, to make a hand that adds up to 21 or as close to 21 as you can manage without going over 21.

Blackjack can be learned to play in just a few minutes, but it can take years of practice to learn all of the ins and outs of the game.

Most players play with the strategy of trying to make the dealer go over 21, which means each player who does not go over 21 wins, instead of just playing blackjack for themselves they do it sort of as a team game.

This strategy is disturbed when a player who is new to the game sits at a table with more experienced players. To be more accurate the more experienced players will feel that the new player is disturbing their strategy, but in fact they have just the same chances with or without that player.

A player at a blackjack table who is playing for himself and not to bust the dealer does not really change the odds of the dealer busting. This is a myth that has been debunked. The only way to get an advantage in blackjack is to count cards.

Counting cards is not illegal and in most cases the casinos do not mind you doing it because they know that chances are you will not correctly asses your odds and in the long run you will lose more money then you could win with a faulty system. If you are smart enough to use a winning system then the casinos will remove you from the casino and you will be banned from returning.
