Every play in blackjack has an exact term to define itself accurately; here are a few extracts from blackjack glossary.

Here is an essential glossary of Blackjack terms to help you keep up with the other players.

Advantage: A player's anticipated rate of win or loss, generally shown as a percentage of total money played

Bet Spread: A difference between a player’s minimum and maximum bets.

Bust: To get over 21 and lose the hand

Double after Split: Casino rules that permit doubling down after the players has split any pair.

Double Down: To double the magnitude of one's primary bet before taking one more card.

Early Surrender: Player may surrender after getting first two cards but before dealer checks for an Ace in the hole.

Face Card: The face cards are the Jacks, Queens, and Kings, all having a value of 10.

Hard Total: The sum of any hand not holding Aces or the total of a hand where the Ace is worth 1.

Hole Card: Playing position with a high count value, very encouraging to player.

Insurance: If the dealer's up card is an ace or ten, he or she will claim for insurance. When you place an insurance bet, you are betting that the dealer has Blackjack

Late Surrender: Permits the player to surrender half of his bet after seeing the dealer's up card, unless the dealer has a blackjack

Natural: If an Ace and a 10 value card are dealt as the first two cards adding to 21- Also termed as Blackjack.

No Double after Split: Not permitting doubling when the player has split two cards

Pat Hand: Any hand which is a 17 or greater and won’t need a hit

Resplit: Splitting pairs after splitting a pair for the first time if the identical card is dealt again.

Resplit Aces: The limitless capability to re-split aces.

Soft Hand: A hand that holds an Ace which is counted as 11. For instance, an Ace-9 that is counted as twenty is soft. If it is then counted as a ten, it befalls a hard hand.

Stiff Hand: Any hand that could bust if the player draws. Stiff hands are hard totals of 12 through 16 in value.

Surrender: Surrender is the only alternative of not playing a hand after getting your first two cards.

Third Baseman: The seat at a blackjack table which is the farthest to the left. It is the last person to receive the cards-.Also termed to as the Anchorman.

Tie: Both player and dealer have the same hand total. Player keeps the bet. Tie is denoted by the term push
