Iowa Casino Licenses To Be Decided Upon

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission have once again shown its reluctance to provide casino gambling licenses.

The current idea of the commission to re-think the licensing has not really impressed or excited anyone because this has happened aimlessly in the past for many a times.

The last of the casino licenses in Iowa dates back to year 2005 and until recently no new licenses have been issued.  Though talks were on and off with respect to this issue following a decline in the number of votes for casino licensing was not successful in Ottumwa until and after late February 2008 decision making.

They tried to let go a green flag in licensing the Waterloo casinos; however, the casino did not open up as timed and therefore the commission decided that they will wait until all of the other casinos opened before they can look in to the actual impact of providing a gambling license. This in turn let the commission to re-think on their own licensing decision in February 2008.

A meeting was set for Thursday to decide on the deal.  Eventually, the end result might be one of the two ways. The first being the commission going in favor of casino gambling and the second is the commission going completely against the casino licensing process at all. However, if they are going to vote favorably for licensing, this can provide the state with $35 to $50 million in revenues.

Also, if the commission is going to vote in favor of casinos, River Hills Riverboat will continue to be a license holder and the Wild Rose Entertainment will continue as the casino operator much similar to how they were in 2005.
