European Roulette

Here are the rules for the European version of Roulette.

The European roulette wheel consists of 37 numbered compartments from 1 to 30 and 0. These pockets are colored in red and black alternatively. Zero is in green color. European roulette is sometimes also known as single-zero roulette. You have to guess the result of a spin of the wheel, i.e. you must affirm on which pocket the ball will come to rest after a spin.

You can wager on any specific number, any combination of numbers, color of numbers as black or red, even or odd as the result of a spin. European roulette rules are simple and easy. The house edge is less than American Roulette. The probability of the ball landing on any of the pockets is 1 to 36. A European Roulette table has individual outside and inside betting areas. These areas facilitate you in laying your outside or inside bets.

Inside Bets

inside bets must add up to at least the table minimum. Zero is in the inside bet square. There are various options and combinations. Straight up bet, betting on a single number will payout 35:1. Betting on two adjacent squares or pockets, called a Split bet, will      give a payout 17:1.  Street bet permits you to bet on a specific row of three numbers. This will pay 11: 1. Line bet helps you lay two street bets, i.e. betting on six numbers and the payoff is 5: 1. Corner bet is to bet on any of the four adjacent squares which pays 8:1.

Outside Bets

Since zero lies in the inside bet square, it figures in the inside betting area. Outside bets must have the sum of the minimum betting amounts. Dozens bet surrounds three squares from blends of 1 to 12, 13 to 24, and 25 to 36. Payout is 2: 1. High and Low bet cover two squares of the lower half of numbers with a payout 1: 1. Numbers could be amid 1 to 18 and 19 to 35. Odd and even bets tender payout of 1: 1 .Likewise, betting on black or red color results with 1:1 payoff.

Some casinos offer En-Prison rule. In the outside bets of colors, odd or even, the ball lands on zero, your bet stays in prison. If the next spin again lands on a zero, you lose your bet. However, if it has not rest on zero, you get back your bet without any payout. En prison offers the lowest house advantage for even bets in a roulette game-1.35%.
