French Roulette
The French Roulette has 37 numbers numbered from 0 to 36. The French Roulette has a single zero like the European Roulette. Therefore, the players are likely to have a better edge in French Roulette than the American Roulette played with 00.
Another distinctive feature of the French Roulette wheel is that the table is red and all the numbers are marked in red in the table layout; however, this really has no significance and it is just a preferential design feature and this has no role in creating rule variations. The order of numbers in the French Roulette is also different from the
American Roulette.
The La Partage rule is a distinctive feature of French Roulette. Indeed, this is the only feature, which differentiates this game variant from the rest of the Roulette types. The La Partage rule is more to the player’s advantage than to the house. Per the La Partage rule, the players will be losing only 50% of their even money bets in cases where the wheel stops at zero. The La Partage rule is also known as the En Prison rule.
Other than the simple difference in the table layout and the La Partage rule, the rest of the betting methodology and betting variants are more or less similar to other roulette variants.
Each of the bets made in the French Roulette game will be focusing on different set of numbers. They can be generally grouped under the following headings:
- Inside bets: Straight up bet, split bet, street bet, corner bet and line bet are the different subtypes of inside bets.
- Outside bets: Column bet, dozen bet; red-black, even-odd and high-low bets are the different subtypes of outside bets.
- Announce bets: Are nothing but call bets in French Roulette. The French wheel is divided in to 4 areas of Voisins du zero, Orphelins en plein, Orphelins a cheval, and Tiers du cylindre and bets are made on each area accordingly. Numbers ending with a similar digit are referred to as Finales en plein and pairs of numbers ending with similar digits are referred to as Finales a cheval, bets are also placed with reference to ending digit patterns.
- Neighbor bets: Refers to betting on the numbers, which are marked next to a particular number in the roulette wheel.
It is the player’s choice to make just one type of bet or a combination of bets before the wheel spins, once they have placed the bets and the wheel had begun to spin, the bets cannot be altered. Think twice on the strategic pattern of bet you would like to make in the game well ahead before the wheel spins.
