The only difference between an American and European roulette table is that American Roulette has a space for a 0 and a 00, where as an A European Roulette table only has a 0.

The Roulette Wheel
The Roulette wheel has either 37 or 38 numbered slots on it depending on if it is an American Roulette Wheel or a European Wheel. Most casinos offer both games for their players. The numbers on the wheel alternate between 2 even numbers and 2 odd numbers. The numbers also go back and forth with their color. One number will be red and the next number will be black except for 0 and 00 which are green. The roulette wheel has a grove on the top. In this groove the dealer will spin a little white ball. The ball will eventually slow down and fall onto the numbered part of the wheel. The number and color that the ball stops on is declared the winner.

The Roulette Table
A roulette table consists of 3 columns, with 12 numbers in each column. The numbers run in sequential order starting with one and ending with 36. the 0 and 00 are placed on top of the 3 columns. This is where the inside betting is done. The4 rest of the table is for outside betting. There is no limit to how many inside bets you can make, but some casinos do have a wager limit.

Betting the Inside
When betting on the inside of the roulette table there are several types of bets you can make. A player can bet on any single number, any 2 number that are side by side, and 4 numbers that touch corners, and row or any column. Each one of these bets has different pay outs for winning. They can be from 36 to 1 all they way down to 6 to 1. a bet ona single number is called a straight bet and has the best payoff in roulette. This is the hardest and least likely bet to win. most players like to bet the corners. This is a bet of 4 numbers that have connecting corners. This allows you to use 1 bet to cover 4 number, the payout for winning is less but several wins with a smaller payout is better then no wins on a large payout.

Betting the Outside
In roulette the outside of the table allows you the bets with the best odds of winning, since the odds are better the payouts are much less. Betting on the color red or black to win pays a winner even money. to place this bet all you need to do is place a bet on the part of the table the says red or on the part that says black. For the same payout you can also bet that an odd or an even number will win. You can also bet on with row or which half of the table will contain the winner. Betting on which group of 12 will contain the winner pays out at 2 to 1.
