Advanced players are advantage players and they play in a way to reduce the house edge to less than 1%.  Advanced players compare the price levels of the video poker game in terms of each poker hand.  Also, they prefer to play in sites which permit multi-tabling.  They play in more than one video poker game at a time.  They are pretty aware that the odds for a given hand do differ between games.  They have a flexible strategic game plan for playing each hand.

How to react to combinations leading to flush and straight in the initial deal?
• If you have three or four cards to make a royal flush, do not discard the combination because they can be used to further make straights or flushes even if the Royal combination does not show up.
• Inside straights and outside straights should not be discarded; however, in cases of inside straights you have to hold them only if you have got at least 3 or more of the high cards.
• Low pairs can be used to create a three of a kind.
• Do not discard four card flushes and straights.

How to go about playing hands without any worthy combinations?
• Work with suited high cards and if they are unsuited high cards they are not going to be of any value and you have to consider discarding unsuited high cards to get replacements. Also single high cards should be discarded.
• If you have a mixed suit of cards, then you can consider keeping the 3 unsuited high cards and you have to keep high value face cards.
